Brand Selection Process
Every brand on Ecomarket earns its place. Here's exactly how.
Every brand on Ecomarket earns its place. Here's exactly how.
BRANDS SELECTION
Curation is only meaningful if it's backed by a real process. Before any brand joins ecomarket, it goes through a structured review — vegan compliance first, everything else second.
WHAT WE APPROVEWHAT WE REJECT
APPROVE
• Vegan compliance
(mandatory) Full material composition across uppers, linings, soles, insoles, glues, trims, dyes, coatings, and finishes — all must be animal-free. PETA approved vegan or Vegan Society certification is strongly preferred.
• Materials disclosure
We require specific material names, not vague claims. "Vegan leather" or "eco-friendly" without further detail doesn't pass.
• Brand transparency
Sustainability claims must be backed by evidence — supply-chain disclosure, factory information, fulfilment origin, and a reliable returns process.
• Manufacturing & labour standards
Country of manufacture, factory transparency, working-condition evidence, audits, certifications, or credible labour policies. We don't accept silence on this.
• Chemical safety
OEKO-TEX, bluesign, ZDHC, REACH compliance, and PFAS/PFC-free finishes where relevant.
• Material responsibility
Recycled, bio-based, plant-based, or lower-impact vegan materials are preferred over virgin synthetics where alternatives exist.
• Durability & repairability
Construction quality, warranty terms, repair options, and expected product lifespan. Vegan cruelty free products must be built to last.
• Circularity & packaging
Take-back programmes, recycling options, resale, spare parts, and low-waste packaging.
• Category fit
Cruelty free shoes are our core category. Bags and accessories are secondary. Brands must fit a curated vegan footwear store — not just be vegan.
REJECT
• On materials — no exceptions
We do not carry any product containing animal-derived materials: leather, suede, nubuck, wool, silk, fur, down, feathers, shearling, exotic skins, horn, shell, bone, or any animal-derived waxes, glues, dyes, coatings, or finishes.
• If vegan status cannot be verified
the product is rejected. Vague material descriptions or refusal to confirm full component composition are automatic disqualifiers.
• On materials — flagged but not automatic
PVC is reviewed case by case. Virgin PU is permitted if durable and transparently disclosed.
• On brand behaviour
Misleading vegan or sustainability claims, poor material disclosure, unclear separation between vegan and non-vegan product lines, or unacceptable fulfilment risk are all disqualifiers.
