Materials & Textiles
-
Organic cotton uses up to 95% less water than conventional cotton during the wash phase and doesn’t contain the harsh chemicals, bleaches or dyes that conventional cotton uses. Additionally, conventional cotton often requires the use of chemical-laden pesticides that increases the debt burden on the farmer and leaches into the land and water.
-
Recycled cotton is made from second-hand clothing or industrial cotton waste. It requires fewer resources to produce than new or organic cotton. Though the fibers may be weaker due to mechanical processing, it's often blended with other materials to enhance durability, reducing waste and resource use.
-
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. The standards are very high
and we constantly ensure that we meet and exceed these standards. -
Recycled cashmere is crafted from old knitwear, saving resources by reducing dyeing, water, and chemical use. It's a soft, lightweight, and luxurious fiber that's temperature-regulating and odor-resistant. Properly cared for, recycled cashmere can last a lifetime, making it an eco-friendly choice.
-
ECONYL® is a regenerated nylon made from discarded materials like fishing nets and fabric scraps. It’s infinitely recyclable, reducing waste and the need for new raw materials. ECONYL® maintains the same quality as virgin nylon, supporting a circular economy and helping to protect marine and land ecosystems.
-
Elastane is a synthetic fiber known for its stretch and elasticity, often found in activewear and fitted clothing. While not eco-friendly, Ecomarket ensures that selected brands limit elastane content to no more than 10% per garment, prioritizing natural materials to minimize environmental impact.
-
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ is a sustainable viscose fiber produced from certified renewable wood sources. It uses up to 50% less water and emissions than traditional viscose and adheres to strict environmental standards. It's biodegradable, making it a responsible and eco-conscious fabric choice.
-
Lyocell is a plant-based fiber made from sustainably harvested wood, such as eucalyptus. Its production uses a closed-loop process that recycles water and solvents, reducing waste. Lyocell is soft, breathable, biodegradable, and less resource-intensive, making it a more eco-friendly fabric choice.
-
Modal is a semi-synthetic fiber made from beech tree pulp. Known for its silky feel, breathability, and durability, it’s often praised for sustainability when sourced from responsibly managed forests. It also uses less water in production and is biodegradable, reducing its environmental impact.
-
TENCEL™ Modal is a premium fiber made from sustainably harvested beech trees. Its production uses eco-friendly processes with low water and energy consumption. The fiber is biodegradable, soft, breathable, and durable, offering a luxurious feel with a reduced environmental footprint.
-
Viscose is a semi-synthetic fiber made from regenerated wood pulp, often sourced from fast-growing trees like eucalyptus or bamboo. When responsibly produced, viscose can be sustainable by using renewable forests, eco-friendly processing methods, and fewer chemicals, reducing its environmental footprint.
-
Recycled polyester is made from post-consumer plastic waste, like PET bottles. It reduces the need for virgin petroleum, cutting down on carbon emissions and waste. This process saves resources while offering durability and performance similar to regular polyester, promoting circular fashion and sustainability.
